is that the same as the check engine light in other cars???

Yes it is. The exact same, you'll have to take it to somewhere where you can plug it into the computer (napa, Canadian Tire, Auto Zone, ect...) and then get a hanes book for the modle car you have, and then find the code.

What year is your car? If its a 1991-1995, you can get the codes yourself. We have complete instructions on our site.

98 is ODBII



Per MCapone, most autoparts stores will read the codes for free.



Post the codes (Pxxx) here and we'll help you sort em out

well, I have a service engine light that comes on, then it goes out, i dont have enough time to take it to get it checked, it will randomly come on, then when i turn it off, then turn it back on again, it's not there any more (1993 sl1 automatic)

thanks a lot guys... i took it into an advanced auto parts (used to be track auto) and they did infact help me sort everything out... the trans was overfilled and was setting off an engine code. unfortunatly now i still have the code up... does anyone know how i can erase it? i know i toyotas i can just pull a fuse and wait ten mins... i didn't know if saturns are the same way or not.

Most ODBII scan tools have the ability to erase the codes as well as read them.

I've heard of peeps disconnecting the battery for 10 min, but then you lose the radio presets, etc.

Just take it back to advanced and have them clear the codes.
