Default Road noise...

Anybody here had any luck reducing the road noise in a 1995 SL1? I think most of it is coming through the rear wheel wells. Maybe the rear floor panels too. Don't know for sure but I know it is loud, very loud.

Thanks in advance.

I think you can get some stuff called Dynamat and put it under your seats and stuff that will help, Howard. I'm not sure, though.

X2 on the Dynamat. I lined the trunk on my 94 SL1 and it made a huge difference. It is still loud compared to my 2000 SL1.

while I'm sure it would help, you could spend a small fortune trying to soundproof a car that came from the factory with pretty much none. Any part of the car you silence will just make you hear other noises previously drowned out by the louder ones...and it goes on and on.

The loudest my sattys get are when the back seats are unlatched from their retainers.

Do you really wanna sink $ into a 19 yr old car?

Just food for thought.....

Not a lot of money. My son can't afford anything else and besides a little oil consumption it provides him good economical transportation. Making it a little quieter would be a nice thing to do for him. That's all.

DTruck1 - You lined the entire trunk? Did you put any under the rear seat?

No sir, just pulled up the carpet, pulled the spare out, and lined the spare tire well, and the trunk floor. It helped a little, but the gen 1 Saturns were always loud. Tires can make a big difference as well. Not saying change the tires, but something to consider when buying the next set.

Make sure the noise isn't coming from your rear wheel bearings. They sound like snow tires when they go, and they just keep getting louder.
