Revs stay up between gears
1999 SL1 5-sp. When I'm shifting, the engine actually revs a little higher between gears, instead of dropping. When I am at a standstill, it idles normally. I've been told everyting from a clutch to a vaccum leak. Help!

I just swapped an SOHC engine in a 95 and replaced the clutch and now have that problem. Suspect it isn't the clutch, and more likely a vaccum leak. But I have the same issue. 1 week now and haven't found the leak. Keep me informed. -J

yea i cleaned when i removed the throttle body but never replaced. what is the best way to test that its operating properly? i also forgot to mention that i recently replaced the TPS too.

you're makin it harder to diag by leaving out key info......but whatever.....
vacuum leak? spray some throttle body cleaner around the outside of the throttle body and around the intake manifold gaskets on a COOL engine and listen for changes in rpm to find your vacuum leak |
some car manufacturers made cars do that for smoother shifting.
|
indeed but the old s cars do not rev match....
