Question about changing fuel filter in '94 SL2
I'm changing the fuel filter while I'm changing the fuel pump and I disconnected the quick-connect fuel line on the back of the fuel filter, but the front hose (engine side) looks like it isn't a quick connect line. I've seen a couple threads where people describe using a special pair of scissor pliers to remove the front hose from the filter, but when I look at pictures of the new filters (online), they appear to come WITH a new hose attached the filter - with a quick-connect on the open end.
I looked (briefly) at the filter that is currently on the car, and the front line attached to the front side of the filter does NOT seem to have a quick-connect at the other end of it, where it attaches to the fuel rail.
Does that front hose have a quick-connect at the end, where it attaches to the fuel rail? Did I just miss that inspecting it? Or, should I attempt to remove the front hose from the filter and reuse that hose with the new filter.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks!

The Napa Gold replacement fuel filter comes with the bracket and a section of hard plastic line with quick connects. The filter also comes with a release tool for the factory connector. The tool looks like the one I use each time I change the fuel filter on my 95 Ford chassis motorhome. The tool reaches inside the connector and pushes the 4 metal tabs back far enough for the rib on the filter to slide past. The Napa Gold number is 3573. The factory filter probably reuses the factory line, the replacement filter element most likely fits more applications and requires a new style line.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I was looking at the Napa filter. It does come with the line that connects the filter to the engine (fuel rail?), but that line has quick-connects on both ends. Does my fuel rail (or wherever it connects) have a quick-connect also?

The tool shown at the bottom of the photo should release your original line at the fuel rail. Snap it over the steel line and slide the small side of the tool into the end of the factory connector. You may have to twist the line to get it to come loose. The new line will just snap on with the plastic clip holding it together.
