I need Help...
My car has a hard time shifting i guess i would say. So i checked the SES light for my 1997 saturn sl. I dont have the code number right now but i know it said 3rd gear ratio and 4th gear ratio. I have 17 in rims on it now im not sure if that effects it. I already changed the VSS and that worked for alittle bit but then it still was shifting hard and the rpm just keeps going up and now i have no idea what to do could it be the valve body? or the solenoids gone bad?

Welcome to the forum. Hang on a bit. There are some good people here that know much more than I do. They will be along soon. How long after you changed the rims did the trouble start? Have you serviced your trans? How many miles on the car?

im not sure when the rims were put on. i just bought the car and they were already on there. there are about 140k miles on the car. i have not service the trans. the only things ive done so far is change the vss and the brake on all for tires.

I checked the valve body the connector part (with the a,b,c,d etc.) with my multi meter and all of them are all good. I am seriously lost in what else to try, beside maybe getting stock rims and changing my rims and tires to why they should be? Or could it be the valve body itself that is bad I do not know. Please help.

I think there are some people running that size rims on here. So I wouldn't just throw money at a problem without knowing what the problem really is. Having the code number might help. What condition is the fluid in? Does it smell bad?

Rim size doesn't really mean anything .... it's the tire size that means everything. Look under the Tire section for the tire size calculator to see where your at with your tires.
That said, sounds like you have a Valve Body problem .... common.

i didnt smell anything from the fluid so im not sure what the condition of the fluid is but i probobly should change the fluid anyways right?
my tires are 215/70/17 89w
i just dont want to take my car to a shop without knowing what the problem is.
