Help! My car wont start!!
I went out to leave earlier, and my car wouldn''t start. It''s not the batter, because it''s turning over, it will almost start, just won''t. I had someone try to boost me off just in case but it didn''t help. We did listen to make sure the fuel pump was kicking in. Any suggestions is appreciated!! I have a 99 SL 2 with 114,000 miles on it.
Hee, hee, hee ...
I have met many females in my time, and although a few of them claimed to be ''ditzy'', I found out over time they just wanted me to think that, so they would have an advantage.
Anyhow, if your dad can make the measurements, the ECTS is located on the drivers side of the engine. It is a sensor with two wires going to it. He will have to disconnect the plug, and with the ohmmeter, measure the resistance of the sensor. Assuming the temperature there is between 50 and 75 degrees, he should see a value of resistance between 2,400 and 5,600 ohms. If the value measures significantly higher or lower than that, the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced.
A replacement sensor will cost about $14.00usd. It is always a good idea to replace the connector on the end of the wires too. You will need to get that part from Saturn.
If the measurement is good, there are a couple of other things it might be, but I will wait to hear from you ...
Trust me, I''m not trying to get an advantage on ya. My dad came up to look at the car, he thought it may be the coil packs. So he replaced them, but unfortunatly that was not the problem!! He is now in the process of going to get the Engine module checked, and he also bought the sensor your suggested and is going to replace that as well. I just need my car!!! This is depressing.
I can pretty much guarentee that its not the coil packs or the PCM (engine control module as you call it).
You have a better chance of being struck by lightning on a cloudless day in a cave 2000 feet under ground than having a Saturn PCM go bad.

My dad isn''t familiar with Saturns. And I know it wasn''t the coil packs, that was eighty bucks I didn''t have to spend but did. He was just starting where he thought best. He is taking the part Engine module tommorrow to have it tested. I need my car so bad! Single mom with my only way to go down is not good. Do you have any suggestions? My battery is pretty much new, just replaced plugs and wires a couple months ago.
