Default Fuse Box on 98 Saturn SL

I have a bad connection on the fuse for my fuel pump. I have been trying to remove the portion of the fuse box that holds that particular fuse. From what I could find online it seems pretty straight forward---remove the center bolt until it is loose and spins. Pull the fuse (that particular section) out. Only thing is, after loosening the bolt there is absolutely no movement in the fuse box. It's still in there as solid as it was with the bolt. Is there something else holding it there?

Inside the car or under the hood? I believe that is inside. I'll see if I can refresh my memory tomorrow.

I suspect you are suffering from the f5 issue. Terminal f5 or f2 depending on year and model shared the ful pump fuse and cigarette lighter..

I called a cigarette lighter because that is what it was designed to do. With today's high current charging cell phone batteries, if you leave your cell phone charging pulling 2 amps indefinitely, the wiring overheats because it is not low enough gauge to handle that much current continuously. The contact well then melt at the fuse box. Depending on how bad it is sometimes you can re spring the terminal sometimes you are not so lucky. Anyway I'll check. I owe someone else some pictures

Thanks Derf. It's an f5 issue. I isolated it when my car kept dying and I found that if I pushed in on the wire on the f5 terminal the car would start. I was hoping to just change the wiring out but the terminal looks burnt enough to where I'll have to get another box. Thanks for the information about the lighter.

Also, for the same reasons do not tap into that terminal for any additional add-ons that draw significant current

You already know that. The statement is more for people that read this after we are both dead
