Default Egr valve p0405

This is for my 97 saturn sl with 145,000 miles on it.

I keep getting the engine code P0405.

I have replaced the egr valve. The code went off. Within months the code came back on. I replaced the egr valve again. I reset the service engine light. few months go by and it comes on again. When I pull it off this time, I notice that there is all this oil on the egr piston. I inspect the hole where the exhaust comes from and there is oil in there too. So I got a turkey baster and sucked out the oil. I sprayed carb cleaner down there and sopped it all up with a towel. Since I have done this, the car has been running great. But it seems like I have to do this every week. If I don't do this every week or so, my egr valve malfunctions because of there being oil buildup. I think it was caused by a bad pcv valve that I replaced recently. I'm just wondering i anyone knows about what I am experiencing? What do I have to do to get the oil to stop clogging up my egr valve?

Thanks for any replies.

This last 3k I had oil leaking from oil plug gasket. With the leaking gasket, I replaced 2 qts.
