Default Creaking AND Clunking Noises

Let me first say that I know little about cars, so I'd love anyone's input/advice!
I have a 2002 SL2 with about 120,000 miles on it.

I've noticed in the last few months that I now have a creaking(?) noise when I turn the steering wheel to the right or left. It is NOT the power steering fluid level, and I've been told that it could be the front struts.

I ALSO have a clunking noise on the back end (perhaps the back right?) whenever I drive over bumps around the neighborhood.

Any advice on how I could begin investigating? Money is tight, so anything I could manage to do on my own would be great.

Thanks everyone!

I'd look for leakage on the rear suspension parts first ....
