cranks but won't start
First off...thanks to those who have provided wise advice on the forums....I have learned a lot and been able to save myself trip to the shop.
My 2002 SC2 (157K miles) was getting me from point A to point B reliably without incident until recently....
Driving home from store, suddenly lost power and had to limp home barely able to maintain more than 10-15 MPH.
Wouldn't start the next day ...not surprisingly.
Pulled codes and got what I was expecting... P0300, P0340, P0130, P0134
Replaced all 4 plugs which were definitely in need or replacement
Replaced CPS ....old one tested fine unfortunately...800 Ohm resistance. Checked the new one before installing it...all good
Not getting spark at ignition coils....pulled plug wires and did not have spark when cranking.
Pulled off ICM and coils and cleaned all contacts and re-installed them.
Checked all fuses...no issue there
No security light on dash
I do have 12 V going into ICM....tested the voltage in wire harness
Fuel pump kicks in as expected and even tried starting fluid in intake.( before I realized that I had no spark at coils)
Checked connections at PCM...all look fine.
What am I missing? Thanks in advance fo any help!
Scott

Either you need a new front O2, which is reasonable at your mileage, Or the grounds and wiring in the link below need to be checked.

Have to think more about the no spark part.....

Thanks....will give the front O2 sensor a try and will check all grounds. Forgot to mention that I also replaced the ECTS which several people have mentioned can cause flaky results...that was not the problem. Will post after I swap out sensor and check grounds
When you crank, you stated no spark.
you also stated fuel pump is priming.
Did you check for fuel at the rail?
There's a shrader valve on the fuel line right before it meets the rail. Crank 6 or seven times, then cover the Schrader with a rag and press the center pin. You should have a good bit of fuel spraying out.
Just because the pump is priming does not mean it is necessarily delivering adequate pressure.
This is part of cross-checking everything else before chasing down the spark issue. Just want to make sure we don't have more than one issue. Note that all of this may be an electrical issue, including the issue with the pump if there is one, so I am not necessarily wandering off in another direction.

Also, at Key on bulb check, does the security light light up as part of that bulb check?
You also need a full featured scanner to read the codes other than the p codes. Especially the body codes. There are also b, c, and x codes in addition to the emissions related p codes. Unfortunately, only the p codes light the SES. You only see the other codes, if present, with a scanner capable of pulling them. The default scan at AutoZone or similar will not provide these codes.
I have a sneaky suspicion but I don't want to get ahead of myself

Just checked fuel pressure at rail....plenty of fuel coming out at Schrader valve after cranking few times. Going to get new O2 sensor when I head out in a bit....will let you know the results. Thanks again for the help.
