Default Computer Issues

Hello,

I have a dilema . . .

My 2002 SL1 SOHC 5 speed manual engine finally let go (Timing Chain) after 375,000 KMS.
Served me very well.

I looked for another engine, found a DOHC engine 5 speed manual from a 1998. The person who sold it to me installed it. It was beefed up, supposedly 235 hp, 30 over, ported and polished head, Stage 3 Clutch and light weight flywheel, ( I have no knowlegde on how to confirm this ). It does go much quicker.

Here is my problem . . . he did not keep the computer. He told me to go and get one from a boneyard. I did, won't start - security light flashes.
I took it back to the boneyard and got another - same thing.
I can run my car with my SOHC computer that originally came with my car, just does not seem to run just right.

I then called the GM dealer, he said I need to flash my original or other computer for the DOHC - 5 speed manual. He then told me I would have to get a VIN for a 2001 / 2002 S-Series, DOHC, 5 speed manual in order to flash it.

Is there any possibility someone can help with the VIN issue?
Is there a sure fire way of resetting the secuity issue? (I tried a couple of the ways I found through Google, no luck)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Al

Only someone with a TECH II can help if they know how to use it.
