clicking sound from the front
Good Morning, I am having an intermittent "clicking" sound from the drivers front. it sounds like a cv joint sound, but I get this when driving straight and when turning. BUT there are times that the "clicking" sound is not heard. I cannot identify any pattern or variables that make the sound appear or not appear. Any ideas?? A friend tells me that it could be the inner CV joint, is there any way to test for these joints? I have looked around underneath, cannot find anything loose or out of place. Thanks

Where are you that when your posting at 3:32MST in the afternoon you would say GOODMORNING?
I had no idea NC was so many hours ahead or behind Az.

thanks for the info. is there a specific method to pinpoint that it is the CV joint, either inner or outer? as for the "good morning", I work all shifts, and sometimes not sure if I am coming or going, let alone what time it might be in whatever time zone I might find myself. it is just easier to say "good morning". additionally, sunrise is the best time of day, especially at Wrightsville Beach. or any beach, for that matter.
If I were to make a guess, I would vote for the inner joint.
Normally, if the outer joint is defective, a series of hard circles either to the right or to the left in a vacant parking lot would make the outer joint rattle. Stand in the lot, and have someone drive the car around you in a tight circle.
Of course, torn or damaged boots would be a big giveaway too. Sometimes they will split but not totally break apart, making the locating of a bad boot a bit more difficult ...
