Hey There
I'm new to this sight, as I am a new Saturn owner, I think my 2002 SL1 is a fine machine, and besides a few bugs that you would expect from a "new" car, it has been great.

But my cigarette lighter wont work. I keep blowing fuses. If I take the lighter out of the socket, and put a new fuse in, it doesn't blow, but as soon as I insert the lighter (or any lighter for that matter, I've tested it with a few) the fuse blows. Has anyone ran into this, any suggestions??

The lighter socket must be shorting as soon as something is plugged into it that's all. Look closely into the socket as the center pin should not have anything metallicconnecting it to the barrel as its separated by a ceramic insulator. Removing it and you'll quickly see that the HOT wire is connected to the center pin while the body is grounded to the dash frame.

Thanks for the help. I did figure it out. I found another Saturn cigarette lighter, and it had no problem. I guess Saturn's are different than most other companies. (I tried a Ford, Acura, Honda, Ford, and Pontiac, none of them worked...)
