Ihear that some saturn DOHC motors have plastic valve covers and some are alumiumn.what years did have the plastic valve coversand the alumiumn valve covers?Which DOHC motor in what year is theBEST with whattype of valve cover? Any opinions are granted lol please help i am looking for a DOHC for my 95 Sat i want the BEST! Thanks Austin

1991-1995 had the aluminum cover. 1996-2002 had the black composite covers. In 1994 a handfull of DOHC''s had plastic covers but leaked terribly. Saturn redesigned them and re-introduced them in 1996.

Valve cover design has no effect on the engine. If you have a 1995 and need a new engine, a 1995-1999 will be a direct drop in. A 1993-1994 will work, but you''''ll need an OEM EGR adaptor plate. Which I sell.Edited by: Low Saturn
