Saturn S Series Sedan SL, SL1, and SL2

Ahhh what a nightmare...need help bad..

</>My 1995 Saturn Sc2 had some issues with the block (lower end). We believe it's the connecting rod. So we went to the junkyard and pulled a motor from a 1999 SL2 and swapped it in there. I want to swap the head from my 1995 SC2 onto the 1999 SL2 block... Will I run into any problems? Any help would be appreciated. I know the Intake manifold isthe sameand the exhaust manifold is different but my header from my sc2 will work obviously since I want to swap my head on the 99.

They have the same block except the serp belt tensioner area it will work just fine though.

Actually the blocks are identical. No difference in the tensioner, how it mounts or anything.

The 1995 head will mount to the 99 block fine. Just make sure you use a head gasket for a 1995.

Then tensioner mounting area has a hole all the way through on the 98 and newer for a deeper different tensioner that comes from the factory the old style tensioner will fit just fine though.They all have the same part number now.Just didnt want you to alarmed when you noticed.

You talking about the hole that in the center of the recess of the tensioner mounting area?

The 1991 and 1994 block I have sitting on my shelf in my garage, the assembled 1992 engine, 1993 engine I have on the floor and 2001 crate motor still in the crate all look identical in the tensioner mounting area. They all have a hole in that recess.

Hey thanks everyone finally finished my motor swap! Got a whole motor with only 60k miles on it. Pulled it from the junkyard ha. Runs amazing! $180 bucks for the motor. Lucked out...

Now I'm looking for cams, IM, Exhaust, Header, Intake, Tune... And looking into turbos once I sell my camaro ss.

Painting the car too! Love this car...Any suggestions on parts would be great!
