On my code reader, the code camshaft position "A" comes up. Anybody know what it means?

 

What is the exact code? Saturn S-Seires dont have cam position sensors.

 

That''s what I thought too... I didn''t write down the code, but if it pops back up, i''ll check it again. This is not the first time this code comes up. The car belongs to my girlfriend, and she couldn''t get it running for a few days. It would turn over and kick a bit (almost like it was firing on 2 cylinders). Then last night her friend tried it and played with the throttle apparently and got it going. The car was running fine when she shut it offa few days ago, then this happened. I''m not too familiar with these cars, but I did go out and buy a Haynes manual (just like every other Haynes manual...not enough detail). Like I said theis code has popped up before, but the car never skipped a beat! I told her that maybe she needs new plugs/wires, new fuel/air filters etc. Apparently she''s never changed them in 5 years she''s owned the car...what u think about that???

 

If you get the "cam position sensor" code. Then check for bad plugs, wires, oil in the spark plug wells (due to a leaking valve cover), and corrosion on the coil pack towers.

The PCM uses crank position and ignition timeing of cylinder #4 to determine cam position.
