so i bought a '96 sl2 for $500. it has 128 XXX miles on it, but needs a tranny. i knew the trans was going out, but i still drove it. anyway, i plan on replacing the tranny asap, but now it sounds like i have a knock in my motor. not sure if it's actually a knock or if it's the tranny. anyway, what's the possibility if it is the motor that i could get my $500 back out of it? any idea on what they go for as parts cars?

 

how low is the oil?

 

it isn't the motor. it was the tranny. i drove it around the block and listened to it. the oil isn't low at all, but the trans is GONE. i'm going to try and sell it to a junkyard today i guess.
