The starter will crank, and it seems like it wants to start, but it never does. I have read through several threads. So i had a few ideas and started with that.

I checked all of the ign fuses. All Good
Then checked the fuel pressure. 40 psi
I checked spark. I replaced 1 coil and the spark plugs corresponding.
Spark is good at both coils. (I am replacing all of the plugs)
So it can't be the CPS.
Should I replace the wires too?

When i try and turn it over and rechecked the plugs they were wet (gas).
What would be the next step. Thank you for your time and answers.

Wintertime in Minnesota is not the time to be working on your car. I sincerely hope you have it in a garage somewhere. Unless you have 100,000 + on the wires, they are probably OK. I would replace the ECTS and its associated connector (about $45 usd for both parts) ... stay warm, and good luck

 

Not having a problem with my temperature sensors on my 94 since I discovered that there was a service bulletin on them some 10 or so years ago directly relating to false overheat indications and changed replaced them with correct ones, I have not experiance another problem with them. So;
a couple of questions.
Depending on the year of the car (one or two sensors) do they really screw things up so it won't start? To me that is a bit of stretch to buy into but truth is stranger than fiction
and
is there a diagnostic for this. Such as
will the car start if the they are unplugged?
I'd rather have a diagnostic than throw $45.00 at something that won't do anything on a guess.
Enquiring minds would like to know.

Her car is in her garage, which does help a lot. It was sunny yesterday and 20's. Today is not, i will dress warm and take breaks.

I will replace the ect and connector and finish up the other work I have to do. (2 spark plugs recheck the old coil)

 

I got the ECTS replace and it took two times to try and start, but it fired up. Thank you again for the help.

I got a multi meter to check the sensor it was reading 1.640 ohms. This should have been 5600 to 2400 between 50 and 80 degrees but it was super cold so more like 15000 ohms.

The answer is "Yes, it can." In an effort to get both maximum fuel economy and maximum performance, the mixture ratio of the engine is continuously adjusted with respect to the temperature of the engine. The ECTS is your sensor for that measurement .....

 

hey do u guys know how to replace ects connector....? splicing needing and directions or diagrams to explain how and tools u need?

i think the ects sensor is str8 forward but th e connector seems trickey?

the oem (read get from gm dealer) comes with a splice on the two connector wires if I remember correctly. cut n splice
