Default 2002 SL1 losing power, skipping

I have a 2002 sl1 that starts and runs fine, then within a short period of time, will lose power, and skip only slightly. Also the gas milieage went from like 33 to 27 mpg. I have no check engine lights on. I did change the egr valve, but got it from the junk yard. Made the check engine light go off though. Could this be an ignition module issue? Thanks for any help.

When's the last time you changed the plugs, wires and air filter?

Default Plugs

I should have included that! That was the first thing I did. New top of the line plugs and wires. Was going to change the ignition module but thought I would inquire first. Buying parts is expensive!

How many miles do you have on it? Maybe the catalytic converter is starting to clog. Is it more noticeable when you're going up hill or putting a load on the engine?

Default EGR valvle

I read someone where here that someone with similar problems disconnected their egr valve. I have done that and the problem went away. Does that mean I have to change the egr valve? I had done that before but it was a used one. What negative effect will disonnecting it have? It is nice to have my snappy little car running well, but wondering what i should do from here. Thank you for your help.
