Default Head swap issues

Hi guys....I am new here so I hope this is in the right place..I have a 98 SL 1.9 SOHC with the bottom end gone out...I also have a 99 1.9 DOHC engine with a great bottom end.. my question is, will the SOHC head fit on the newer DOHC block? I think the blocks are the same.. just not sure about the coolant passages in the heads and the timing chain configuration.. Any help would be greatly appreciated

They take different head gaskets but it looks like the difference is in the timing cover not the block. I bet the valve reliefs in the pistons won't be the same, so you need to match pistons to your head configuration.
If you lost the bottom end the metal will be clear through the rest of the engine. The cam bearings may be bad also and the lifters will be fouled with metalflake.
You might be better off with a used engine that has not come apart.
