2000 SL2, 125k miles, occasional 1500 rpm idle after intake replacement
- I am a die-hard Jimi disciple. Your post is blasphemous.
- Do not ever ever post a bogus Jimi lyric again on this site if you wish to return. It's bad enough most people cannot musically appreciate what they were given with his presence; effing up lyrical refs is equally unacceptable as it indicates a lack of attention to detail.
You jump in front of my car
When you, you know all the time
That ninety miles an hour, girl
Is the speed I drive
You tell me it's alright
You don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to
Take you for a drive
You're just like
(Crosstown traffic) So hard to get through to you
(Crosstown traffic) I don't need to run over you
(Crosstown traffic) All you do is slow me down
And I'm trying to get on the other side of town
I'm not the only soul
Who's accused of hit and run
Tire tracks all across your back
I can, I can see you had your fun
But uh, darling can't you see
My signals turn from green to red?
And with you, I can see a traffic jam
Straight up ahead
You're just like
(Crosstown traffic) So hard to get through to you
(Crosstown traffic) I don't need to run over you
(Crosstown traffic) All you do is slow me down
And I've got better things on the other side of town
Yeah, yeah
(Crosstown traffic)
(Yeah, look out) Look out!
Look out, baby, coming through
(Crosstown traffic)
Yeah, yeah (Yeah, look out)
(Crosstown traffic)
Yeah (Yeah, look out)
Look out, look out, baby
(Crosstown traffic)
(Yeah, look out)
What's that on the street?
Move over (Crosstown traffic)
(Yeah, look out) Yeah!
(Crosstown traffic)
(Yeah, look out)
- Continue to check your oil every 500 mi, because the rate at which it burns is only going to increase in time. I never let my s cars get more than half a quart low. There are only four total so one quart is 25% missing.
- People refer to it as burning oil when oil finds its way into the combustion chambers. It literally mixes with the air fuel mix and is ignited with the spark along with everything else.
- On these engines, the oil control rings build up a varnish on them and seize in place. The control of oil getting by on the cylinder walls is lost so some sneaks in that way from the crankcase.
- The seals on the valve guides leak oil into the cylinders from above. Same deal. It burns in the combustion chamber.
- Neither process is exceptionally quick but they are constant and happening multiple times per engine revolution so it adds up.
- People have had success with GM top end cleaner, less so with marvel mystery oil, seafoam. The earlier you catch it and free up the oil control rings, the better chance you have of making it last. If the consumption is already past 1 l per thousand miles, I doubt you will have complete success. But it never hurts to try.
Well, cars DO burn oil if the valve seal are shot or the oil control rings are stuck on the piston. The oil gets into the combustion chamber and is ignited along with the fuel and air mixture. It will accumulate on your spark plugs and cause misfires, too! Read up and study the internal combustion engine and how it works.
