Default 1998 ls2. Motor seized. I have questions

hello saturn owners. I just got a 98 sl2 5 speed for my brother for his 1st car for 100 bucks. I have the 1.9 with black valve cover. well, I was going to drop the pan and see which rod is froze and i was going to attempt in fixing it.

I was told there is 2 1.9's for this, one with the grey cover, one with black. I know mine is a dohc so im guessing the grey is the sohc. Are the blocks the same? and I cant find a motor down here for cheap to save my life, they are all 600-1200 bucks. Are there any other motors that are basically drop in capable that i can use?

Go to saturnwiki.net for basic interchangeability info. Where is "down here"?

The odds are you can buy a used Saturn off a used car lot or privatly running cheaper than you can buy a junk yard engine.
Don't know the prices currently but 6-1200 dollars could buy a whole car, plenty of parts and give you something to sell when you are done.
