Default 1996 sl1 steering problem

the steering wheel in my daughter's 96 sl1 has a lot of play. this seems to only happen in bad weather, i.e., snow. she said the wheel turns very easily but the wheels/tires have a delayed reaction on the turn. this happened this morning in the snow, but on the way home in the afternoon it was just wet and raining and the car was fine. should i be concerned with this?

thanks for any help.

how are the tires -- sounds like it might be a case of poor traction. These cars (except the early base sl's all had power steering with variable assist. If PS was an issue, you'd usually find out by having it be very difficult to turn the wheel.

Check power steering fluid level too. Passenger side near the firewall.

Default thank you

i had the tires rotated. the steering fluid level is fine. Everything seems fine now. I think it was inexperience on my daughter's part. first snow storm, licensed driver for only 6 months.
