1995 SL SOHC.

I replaced the valve cover gasket and cleaned the mating surfaces, replacing the gasket with the RTV Black sealant. No problems out of the gasket, but now I have a trickle of oil from one of the bolts. (still better that what was leaking onto my sparkplugs) I have confirmed the correct torque at 22 ft. lbs. Do i need to replace my grommet or is it potentially a tourquing issue? Thanks!

In the valve cover kit I recently picked up there was included a set of replacement grommets for the bolts. How do I go about replacing these and how neccesary is it? I am leary of replacing something that isn''t causing me problems with a non-Saturn part.

Replace the grommets. They just pop out of the valve cover, and you just install the new ones. I had the same problem with mine, but I re-sealed the valve cover 3 times before I realized the grommets were leaking.

Yea those grommets are simple to replace and are necessary even if they dont look worn.
