Default 1994 SL2 problems

Hi, I recently bought my sl2 and I am having a couple of problems that I hope someone can help me with.
The biggest concern is the transmission is jumping into gear and going up a step hill is a nightmare, if it has to gear down it will not accelerate and just kinda revs up. I hope that makes sense to someone.

The second problem is the cooling system. The fan does not turn on until the gauge is right at the hot temp. There also seems to be a leak on the drivers side below a bolt looking thing on the radiator. It's a small leak, but I do have to put coolant in it often. And the AC is not working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue you have with the leak around the bolt. I'm thinking that I will have to just get a new radiator when i finally get tired of putting coolant in it.

Does your "thingy" have "ears" on it kinda liike a wing nut ?? If so, then you are looking at the radiator drain petcock. It has left-handed threads, and is used to drain the radiator. Sounds like it might have vibrated slightly open .......

Ok so upon more observation it seems to be a small hose and it is leaking around the seal. Here is a photo. It's the brown connection.Name: car01.jpg

I hate to say it but the picture is not a whole lot of help. Where I sit, it is mostly black with some grey lumpy things and what looks like a flash of light.
