hey guys, new here n I have a problem.

it just started last week. I noticed an oily substance leaking from the gas tank. i have pictures:

this picture i tried to put some of the liquid on paper so you could see colour. its a golden color as you can see, and has an oily consistency

it is weird though because it is coming straight from gas tank. it is not running along the tank, rather coming out of it...

any help is greatly appreciated!

Took a puncture from something bouncing off the road? If it smells of gas then it must be a puncture with one of two solutions; replace the tank or attempt sealing the puncture. The oily substance must be from the gasoline breaking down the coating applied to the tank.

oh yea, forgot to say, the oily substance has NO odor. not even slightly gas-ish.

tomorrow i will try to ignite the stuff that is on the driveway, cars far away of course. see how flammable it is

Gasoline evaporates quickly so there won't be any left on the ground.

then what ever is leaking is not gasoline(obviously)

it is oily, and even when face is pretty much pressed against tank, there is no gasoline odor...hmmmmmmm

I have the same problem I think. See if my picture looks like the same stuff comming from your car.

Did you get an answer to what it was?

Its can''''t be gas, because thats not the gas tank. The gas tank is in front of what is pictured and under the rear seats. What is pictured is the recess where the spare tire sits.Edited by: Low Saturn
