Hi guys. I need to replace my ABS control module (fried!). So my PRO sheets in the glovebox says JL9 (also confirmed with Chevy dealer) there are some donor ABS modules i can get that are JL4 and some folks tell me they will work with my JL9 as replacement. Can someone comment what I should look for? Is this so? Will i need to get this reprogrammed at the dealership?
Thank you
Here's what I've learned. What becomes the most important thing is the donor vehicles VIN. Use it to have the dealer check compatibility with your car. If the dealers blesses the part, get it and it will work. I went to the junk yard and saw JL4 and JL9 listed on some fancier traction control and active breaking Buick Terrazas and Uplanders. Those will have extra coils inside the controller. Mine is very basic ABS controller, 8 coils inside and what the dealer said works, did work. Thanks for looking and good luck!
Glad to hear that it all worked out for you. Sorry that none of us replied but I don't think there's ever been a Relay question presented on this forum. I THINK you may be the first and only Relay owner here. I've actually never even seen nor heard of one, to be perfectly honest. When I saw the word Relay in your post, I thought maybe it was about a headlight or starter relay! LOL That's actually a nice looking van. If I ever run across one, I'm going to take a closer look.
Hi Rube and Derf. Thanks for the comments and welcoming me to hang out here. I did notice the Relay section is rather scarce. Strange that Relay owners wouldn't be flocking here, given that these are old vans now and need fixing (not that they didn't need it when they were new I'll stick around, but probably will sign up with Chevy Uplander owners, same rig.
I gather about 23,500 or so Relays were made so as you've been commenting on another thread, rare find.
I don't know if I can be considered Relay expert LOL, just picked up this van the other week, swapped transmission on it and some minor mechanic work. Not expert level by any means at this time. I like it, i don't know why you guys hate on it so much Looks sort of interesting. Check this our though! Can your van do this? (see attached picture)
I can tell you NONE of the Mopar mini vans I owned over the years got mileage like that. Best I ever got was about 23 in my 99 Grand Caravan with the 3.3 liter V-6. And that was driving the speed limit, which I find very difficult to do.
I use the Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner and Fuel System Cleaner every 10,000 miles in my cars. I alternate them every other oil change. Yes, I change my oil every 10,000 miles with Mobil1 full synthetic and a Mobil1 filter. I've been doing this for over 15 years and have NEVER had a failed fuel injector.
