I need to replace my engine for my 05 Saturn L300 and I was wondering if there was another kind of engine that can be used besides the 3.0L V.6. Trying to find an engine in my price range has been quite the task and I was told that it might be possible to find engines from different brands of cars that could also be a fit.

Is this true? Does anyone know of another engine type that would fit my car?

It looks like 04 and 05 Saturn L are the only interchange drop in. They used this engine from 2000 to 2005 in the L series, also in the early Vue. Saab had this engine in some 9-3, 9-5 and 900 models with one turbo. I don't know if any of the Saab stuff will work other than the long block. If you search on "car-part.com" they show wrecking yards in your area.
