Default lowered my 2000 lw2 (and a crappy how to)

hello everyone!

ended up cutting my springs on my Lw2 as there was no other aftermarket available. i cut about a link off of both the front and the rear, I do have exact measurements which I will share for anyone looking for a similar result.
Front - 21 3/4
Rear - 15 1/4

Overall, very satisfied with how it turned out. Ride quality isn't terribly affected, although I did daily drive a pontiac solstice for about a year during highschool so I am quite used to harsher rides.

Some issues you may run into and how I dealt with them (try at ur own risk, i am 18, not very smart and un certified):

- Rear tophat nut/bolt being stuck/spinning entire strut rod
This was a real pain in the ***. Tried many things, only thing that worked was cutting the upper strut rod flush with the nut, then simply continuing to drill out the entirety of the nut til the strut itself came free. Had to do this to both rear struts, as stated I replaced my struts alongside the springs so didn't care to conserve it. You WILL need the outer housing, bushings and the little bracket pieces idk what theyre called (if you dont buy new ones), so make sure to be careful with those.

- Rusted/stuck bolts
blast the **** out of it with pb blaster and let it soak for a few hours. recommend soaking bolts in rust remover before re-installation unless replacing bolts. this is common sense but we all own saturns so probably should say this

other then that, it was pretty easy. would definitely recommend having powertools on hand. Didn't torque anything at all to spec (impact on highest setting) so please pray for me, ill update yall if my car falls apart while driving.

gl to anyone attempting this and if you need anything regarding this i dont mind helping, shoot me a dm

No worries. Called it crappy for a reason. I’m assuming whoever is doing this knows how to remove struts. I’ll upload a better thread later, should’ve taken pictures :/.
