Default l200 2.2L wont stay running

just got the car dont know to much about its past. its an 03 L200, the fuel pump blows the 15 amp fuse(going against all electrical rules I installed a 20 amp) which did not blow. the previous owner told me the fuel pump was all that was wrong. now that I have it where I can work on it i found that there are no indicator lights when the key is turned to the start position. with the 20 amp fuse the car will start momenarily then die. when to pull codes and i get a conection error, checked all fuses going to bcm, emc, and pcm. all were good including the one that powers the obd-II connection. I'm thinking that the bcm went out completely. can anyone help me on this one I need another direction to go.

Well, I am not a mechanic, but it seems to me that if the fuse for the fuel pump is popping, then you've got a bad wire going to the fuel pump or it's grounding out for some other reason that I can't think of. I'd start with that. How many miles are on the car and do you know if it's ever been run out of gas more than once or twice. That will kill a fuel pump prematurely.

I would check the fuel pump sometimes when they go bad they will draw more current and pop the fuses

The fuel pump works with a 20 amp fuse but the car doesn't stay running and there are no indications ie... Fuel level, rpm, temp, mileage. The whole instrument cluster is out. Checked all the fuses to the obd port, bcm, ecu, pcm, gauge panel and they are all good.

Check the BCM/CLUSTER fuse ( 10A ) located in the engine compartment fuse box

Second thought just occurred -- check back on the registry of the car. It might be one from that storm up on the east coast that so many cars were underwater ...
