Idle issue

You should be able to do that in one day's time as long as you know what you're doing. If this is the first time you've attempted a repair like this, then plan on two days just to make sure you do it right the first time. I highly recommend running some Prestone radiator flush thru the system before draining the radiator. Since you have debris in the over flow jug, it sure as hell won't hurt and may loosen up other crap in there. Do it right the first time and you'll have no regrets. Rush it and you may miss something.
Yes I am used to doing most repairs except internal engine (have done valve cover)
Anyways I bought all the parts listed above, a radiator flush, and new coolant.
I have all the stuff disconnected, few more things to disconnect and get out of the way, should get it done today

Alright guys, got through it all today including the drain, rinse, flush and refill of antifreeze.
When all was said and done we started it up and it was idling at 1200rpms
much smoother and quieter than than the 1650-1750 rpms but I was still mad.
But within a few minutes it dropped down (computers must have been readjusting to all the disconnects and changes of parts and such)
and now it idles at probably about 790 rpms, shifting much smoother and running with a lot less rattle than before.
Try shifting and enjoying a ride with it idling at 1650-1750 rpms, every shift lunged a little and something on the car rattled like a loose heat shield.
Now all that is gone and the saturn is back

Glad to hear that you've got it fixed and all is well with your Saturn. Enjoy driving it now and you should notice some improvement in the mileage too. It's amazing how a small vacuum leak can really screw with you, isn't it?

Yes pain in the butt!
I knew the EGR was leaking a little, but as soon as I pulled the intake off I knew it was the problem. The gasket was eaten apart from the bad valve cover gasket dripping oil all over it. It was a paper one where the new one was metal and rubber
