Going Bald - Fuel Pressure Regulator Location

3.0 6 cylinder Can someone tell me where the Fuel Pressure Regulator is located? I'm scratching my head, Going BALD |

It is on the fuel rail just ahead of the ecm. The fsm says it can be replaced without intake removal. Look where the two fuel lines connect to the engine near the test port. |

I thought it had had a vac hose connected to it, which these metal lines may be? |

Okay: I was looking for the part that fits the 03 LW300 as shown for sale in retail stores . The regulator you've id'd on the engine is different in appearance. The longer metal hose extensions are what threw me off.

The regulator they show on Rock Auto is correct. It goes in from the bottom but it looks like there is room. There is a v clamp with one screw and the vacuum line points forward. The fsm has drawings, pictures are better. |
Thanks: I'm pretty sure that I was misreading what the part looks like. I thought it was the entire piece, including the fuel lines. If I'm reading you correctly, removing the screw and v-clip will then make it possible to insert the regulator from underneath, as long as I have small hands?

I try to use OEM if available. Delphi or Bosch are quality brands. |
Turns out the original regulator is fine. I was looking for a sign of gas leaking from the vent but it was dry. Back to step 1.
Engine sputters and dies upon ignition. Turn key to on, wait 5 seconds and engine starts right up every time. Fuel pump is good. All dash lights go out upon second attempt to start. Thought it might be the Passlock system but don't see why it would give me trouble on the initial start but not on second attempt. Something is keeping the engine from remaining on when I turn the key straight to start without waiting 5 seconds. Car runs like new when taken for a drive. Any ideas? |
Connect a fuel pressure gage to the test port. I suspect the check valve in the pump itself is bleeding off pressure when parked. Probably going to take a new pump cartridge to fix it like new or keep doing what you are doing to get it running. Depends on who drives it whether you fix it or not. |
