03 L200 cranks but no start.

I'm having an issue with my girlfriend's 03 L200 with a 2.2 Ecotec engine that has approximately 140K miles on it.
It has an intermittent crank but no start issue. It acts like the fuel pump goes out (no fuel pressure on a test gauge but enough to dribble at the test port.)
In the past, I've inspected and cleaned the electrical connections from the fuel pump and it's worked fine for a while before dying again The last two times have come after the engine has idled for
a significant period of time. I've checked spark by grounding the plugs and having someone crank the engine, and it has spark. I've tried jumping pins 87 and 30 at the fuel pump relay but to no avail
I also tried switching relays but again no luck. I've read on other Saturn forums that owners have tried replacing their fuel pumps only to have the problem reappear shortly after. I'm going to try finding the fuel pump ground connection
I've read that it comes from the tail light harness somewhere in the rear. I'm also wondering if this could be related to the BCM issue or another module due to it occurring after a long idle. Anyway after reading various forums
I've never found a definitive answer to the cause. I am a former Saturn tech but left before the L series came along. Does anyone have an answer for this issue?

yes the body is good but there's plenty of rust on the undercarriage

It probably needs a fuel pump
