Unhappy 02 L200 Mystery

Here's the story...

Stuck in stop-and-go traffic on a hot day, it felt like I went over a small bump and then the Oil Pressure and Charging System lights came on, my automatic brakes stopped working (so I had to press really hard on the brake pedal), and my engine had turned off. I coasted over to the side of the road and turned off my vehicle.

After spending a few moments gathering myself, I turned the key and it started. I cautiously drove another 15 miles. I stopped at a stoplight near my house and turned right. As I tried to accelerate, the vehicle shut off again. I coasted to the side of the road again, but this time when I turned the key, I couldn't get the engine to turn over. I'm not sure of the proper terminology, but it would try to start, and it wouldn't actually turn over.

A tow truck came 3 days later (had to wait for my AAA membership to kick in), and tow truck guy was able to start the vehicle and drive it onto the truck.

For 2 weeks now my mechanic (honest and experienced) has been trying to figure out the problem. He seems to think that anti-theft is kicking in. He tried installing a body control module, but there was no change.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Crank position sensor?
What codes did he pull from the PCM, bcm, and TCM. Need as Pxxxx format, not the description.
