recently changed oil and after 2nd or 3rd day, looked at speedometer and it showed 694578 and it does not change. The approximate milage should be about 92350. The trip meter does not work either. Anyone got any suggestions. Tried to reset oil button, did not change. even disconnected battery, but did not help.

On the Instrument Panel Junction Block (IPJB) under the dash, check the IGN 1 fuse

cherokee9 01-08-2009 02:09 PM

Thanks for the info Oceanarcher. Checked the fuse in both the block on the side of wall on passenger side and also the fuse block under hood. all seem OK. I am wondering if a connection to drive train may be unplugged but I don''t know where to look.

OceanArcher 01-08-2009 02:36 PM

Well, the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is located on the transaxle housing. Make sure the connector is tight ...

cherokee9 01-08-2009 06:15 PM

The speed sensor plug appears clean and is securely plugged in. Still no help.

Sounds like the BCM

OceanArcher 01-08-2009 07:53 PM

(sigh) ... Yeah ...

Did not want to jump to that, but sw2cam has the next logical place to look. Either that, or the speedo head itself.

cherokee9 01-09-2009 01:01 PM

I don''t know what that is or where it is, but it sounds expensive. Can you help with more info.

Thanks

Are you still there ?

I have the same problem with the same car make and model 9 years later. Was told that a rebuilt instrument cluster would solve the problem. Now where do I get a rebuilt instrument cluster lol ?

derf 12-06-2017 09:48 PM

You were told wrong.

The BCM is toast. It stores the mileage and cannot be altered

Sameel Petroson 07-29-2019 02:57 PM

The mileage is stored on the BCM. Looks like the BCM is bad.

Hey Sameel, you DO realize this post is almost 2 years old, right? No point in commenting on it.

derf 07-30-2019 10:51 AM

Hey Rube. Why are you commenting on a two-year-old post? I don't know because I never read things that are above my post or your post. Usually close out when somebody responds years or decades after the original post. Recently I've started really to not care. Looks like web traffic to Google so it makes us more relevant as a site. How times change

Rubehayseed 07-31-2019 07:05 AM

LMAO, derf. I asked myself that same question after I answered and posted. Guess I'm not as sharp as I thought! LOL
