Default Where do these wires go? 2005 Ion 2

Finally trying to get my Ion back on the road after being down for a few years and don't remember where these go

They look like they go to the starter but none of the documentation I have shows this...looks like a solid black wire and 3 black/white wires

This is on an 05 Ion 2.2 btw

Black wires are grounds, those bolt to the block.

They do indeed look like ground straps... anything else would have a plastic connector of some sort...

thanks, I do believe you are correct. Someone on SaturnFans posted this diagram and on numbers 2,3,4,5 is where these are supposed to go

I thought this large ground cable went to that location though so now I'm not sure where it goes

My large ground cable mounts to the bellhousing bolt with the smaller stud sticking out the back. Those other ground wires bolt to the block between the starter and the alternator.

Was all of this possibly the aftermath of an engine swap where the folks didn't take pictures?

Leaving all that stuff ungrounded (whatever it is) can't bode well for the car running right and all the accessories working......

Yeah this is the result of me labeling and organizing nothing I figured the car wasn't going to be down long so I would just take a mental note of where things go.

4-5 years later I'm finally getting around to it and some things are a struggle

Anyway, I ended up grounding the wires just beneath the oil filter, hopefully they work well there

That should work fine. I am starting to suffer from CRS also.
