Question Throttle position sensor

Hi I've been looking for a throttle position sensor and I've been to AutoZone and it only shows the entire body. Can anybody show or tell me what just the throttle position sensor looks like without getting the whole body. Thanks

Not all ions are created equal.

Never go to autozone if you seek a quality part.
Most of us use rockauto.com. Larger variety and on average 1/3 cheaper for identical parts. Shipping cost sucks so if you can buy multiple parts at once it's not as bad.

Unfortunately, from a search of Saturn Ions at rockauto.com, (2004, 2005, 2007), not supercharged, it appears that the throttle position sensor is integrated into the throttle body, so you don't really have a choice if you buy new.
Most cost effective way is a junkyard. Not likely to be damaged in a collision based on location.

Are you sure that is what you need to address whatever problem you have?
What are your diagnostic codes (Pxxxx please)?

It looks like the early Ions 03 and 04 have a throttle position sensor and a cable like my L200. The 05+ Ions are drive by wire whick means the throttle position sensor is part of the throttle body motor and feedback system. Alas I have replaced several assemblies on our drive by wire Fords at work. Like Derf said what are your trouble codes and symptoms?

I'm not sure if that makes me a partial lier, but my intentions were good. Since you haven't posted your car info (year, engine), we're shooting in the dark.

I'm really bummed to find out that Pep Boys wasn't lying and I really do need the whole throttle body if I want to change the sensor. I started getting the TPS general error (P0320? I can't remember at the moment) a few days ago but it only happens every few days. I'll have a service engine light on one day then nothing for two or three days.

I only recently purchased this car (as-is) so I'm still going through and getting it up to snuff. I plan to take out the throttle body to give it a good wipe down in the next day or two. Might that have any impact on the way the TPS operates?

It sure won't hurt you any to try a good cleaning. I'd avoid spraying the sensor with any throttle body cleaner. If possible, clean it with some CRC electrical contact cleaner first and then cover it as best as you can and clean the rest of the throttle body. I don't KNOW if the throttle body cleaner will damage the sensor, it's just the way I'd do it as a precautionary measure. Make sure you check the plug for the sensor and clean it too. It MIGHT just be a dirty connection.
