Steering/suspension work
2005 saturn ion 2.2l level 3 w/ 106k miles
Currently replacing inner/outer tie rods, control arms, sway links. I'm attempting this job because of a few symptoms I've been having and the car is 20 years old and over 100k miles. There seems to be "torque steer" if I accelerate moderately hard (nothing crazy at all) from a stand still. The car will pull hard to the right and tires spin. Also the car will drift to the left if I am slowing down or keeping speed but it isnt really noticable if I am speeding up. The steering wheel also shakes at 50 mph + speeds. My thought was its more than an alignment because of the weird issue with the "torque steer" and that the drifting to the left is only really noticable slowing down. I've owned 3 ions so I have a decent idea of how they drive. I figured the control arm bushing was bad and so the detachment from the frame was causing my issues. But I pulled out my right control arm and it looks decent. The outer tie rod boots are torn but they didnt look terrible. About to put the passenger side back together and do the driver side. Im kind of worried this is not my issue now. Maybe its the steering rack or column? Any thoughts? I used to own a haynes service manual but that was years and many moves ago. Anyone have the torque specs handy for steering and suspension? I did a moderate amount of digging online and cant find much. Operation charm is down sadly. Thanks!

50 to 60 mph sounds more like tire imbalance contributing to the shake. Possibly a wheel out of round or a tire out of round or both or neither.
That's my lame contribution unfortunately. One of the Ion guys should stop in shortly to help with the suspension stuff.
