No temp gauge ?

I have no temp gauge and engine has thrown a p101 code , tells me to replace ets or thermostat , i replaced both still no temp gauge and engine light keeps coming on ? Please advise , does this mean problem is in cars computer ? Thanks Billy .....

Check the wiring betweeen the ECTS and PCM for any shorts or non connection...
