Default Motor swap

Hello. I am currently the owner of a 2006 saturn ion with the 2.2 in it that blew up. I found someone online with what appears to be a very similar motor but it doesn't exactly match. Any help identifying it and advice whether or not it will swap into my car would be amazing. Thank you!

If you're not 100% sure of what that other engine is, then I'd suggest you stay the hell away from it. You don't want to be stuck with two worthless engines. Can't the seller tell you what it is? If not, then move on.

Thank you for the quick response. And normally I would agree but I know it's a good motor. I just don't know much about it and won't learn unless I ask questions. That, and I don't know if it mounts differently or if it is identical to the current motor in my car besides appearance.

Get the VIN of the donor car, ask if it is the original engine, pull the specs for the donor Vin and your vin. Is the donor a red line?

That is a very good idea. Thank you. And no. It is the exact same model. But motor isn't an exact match. Very close to same year. Thank you.

Your car has what appears to me to be the late engine with the 58 tooth tone ring on the crankshaft. If the other car has a solid coil pack between the two raised sections of the valve cover, it will not work. They changed the engines a lot between 2005 and 2007 and they have to be an exact match to work.
