The pin is cast into the round aluminum piece the holds the spring. It just clocks the tensioner in the correct spot. Glad you got it together.

Isn't the alignment pin on the backside of the assembly, Andy?

derf 11-29-2020 05:05 PM

I do believe you are both referring to the same thing.

In this case, the pin is more of a round nub on the back of the tensioner. Functionally a pin -- just not pointy

There you guys are. Did you get moved Charlie?

DropDead 11-29-2020 11:54 PM

Supposed to use the square/diamond. Tensioner tool doesnt fit.
I use a socket adapter for a drill and a pair of vice grips or adjustable wrench or something like that.

No biggie though. Its in a terrible location.

Yeah, We've been in the house for about 3 weeks now, Andy. Sellers were very sneaky and deceptive and hid a lot of things that had to be fixed. I've already removed 3 layers of linoleum from the kitchen and put in new vinyl plank flooring. I've had to rip out all of the lower cabinets and counter tops due to water leaks and mold. I'm working on the counter tops now as I finally got the cabinets set and leveled. What a nightmare. Multiple leaks in the plumbing and the plumbers are currently here and working on all of that. They're almost done and my house no longer smells like a sewage pond. I'll tackle the counter top and cutting out for the sink tomorrow. Thanks for asking. I just got my desk top hooked up today, so will try to be a little more active on the forum.

Nice to be finally out of Florida! Sorry for all the work, wow cabinets and counters. It is one thing when you want to do it and something entirely different when you have to.

That's true, man. What really sucks is that the extra money I'm having to spend was SUPPOSED to go towards a used van.

If Uncljohn were still with us, I'm sure he would advise against the Town n Country...

derf 12-03-2020 04:19 AM

Andy,

Uncljohn was a retired dude who had conceivably wrenched his entire life though mostly under a tree. While the man knew most of what he was talking about, he had a rather unique way of using the English language to interface with the rest of us. He was very hung up on using 15W40 in his Saturns because the oil viscosity charts say that he can out in Arizona. I used to give him all kinds of crap just to keep him stirred up. Funny guy though. Look him up by user if you want some entertaining reading.

I do miss the guy.

Almost banned him right after he joined for drifting off topic. How ironic is that?
