Having 2 problems with my Ion
#1
Hey everyone. I am new to this forum.
I am having 2 problems with my 06 ion2. The first is tht when I go out to start my car in the morning it won''t. I have been told that is is sensor o the clutch pedl assmbly. I wnted to know if this ws true?
Also my check engine light is on and I hooked it up to a computer and the message I got was as follows:
P0449 : EVAP - Emission control system vent valve solenoid malfuction.
I have done some research online and I am inding that it has something to do with my gas tank. I wanted to know if I really had to replace this or can I can I let it go for a little while?
Any info I would really appreciate it.

Well, the cluth pedal has a sensor switch that will prevent the starter from turning over if it is not depressed.
You will need to get the check engine light cleared before you can pass a smog test. A loose gas cap could cause that indication ...

Could be the neutral safety switch and it could be the mechanical portion of ignition.
Could very well be the gascap was left loose just before the light came on.
Could be the evap canister
Could be the evap canister solenoid
Could be anything related to the fuel tank

I agree with all of the above. A friend of mine had his fuel line crack at the fuel pump at top of the tank and got the same code and then it started dumping out fuel when running. In other words it could almost be anything thats related to the gas tank.
