Feels almost silly to ask, but does anyone know a way to fix an 2007 ion cd player?
For some reason mine started not being able to read disks. Every time i put on it, it tried to load it... then says Disk Error. Any disk, every time. - The unit over all works. Radio works. Display works, everything else seems fine. It just cant read disks. I usually have the same disk in there forever then one day it stopped being able to read anything.
I thought maybe the disk reader got dirty or something. I bought one of those disks thats supposed to be able to clean the reader eye part. Put the disk it, it runs it and cleans it while spinning. But the cd player still just says 'disk error' then spits it out.
So im rly not sure what to do, or if there is anything i can do.. to get it working again. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
Personally, I would find an identical unit on eBay that has been tested and accepts returns for dysfunctional equipment. Also, if your system has a 3.5 mm Jack for an auxiliary input, you could do something silly like load your CD library into iTunes, sync it with your 6th generation iPod, and run the output through the headphone jack to the 3.5 mm input on the stereo. Doesn't solve the problem, but does get around it.
Ultimately, I believe you would need to open it up and see if either the laser output or the lens where the reflective signal is read are covered with dust, dried moisture, some combination thereof, etc. if you do open it up, I will be grateful if you could post pictures before you try to clean it as I've not ever seen the innards of a Saturn stock head unit. It'll be different than mine but if the cause of failure is as I discussed, the information will be universally helpful.
Hope this helps. Please stop back and update us on your progress.

i guess thats one way to get around it. I just grab my spare cell phone and set that to play and place it on the passenger seat lol Works well enough, but still quite different from having the car playing.
