I dropped the gas
tank. The inline quick-disconnect fitting for the vent tube broke when I squeezed on the clips. It still wouldn’t come off, so I had to end up cutting the hose. See pic.
What’s the best way to fix this? The fitting is broken, so even if I figure out a way to fix the cut section, it still wouldn’t work. Should I just not use a fitting, and run some kind of hose from the cut section to the tube that runs up to the filler? Or can I buy these hoses?
Use the same material as your fuel lines. Do not use plain old rubber hose. It will not stand up to fuel and you don't want whatever dissolves on the inside going into your injectors.
Check out YouTube videos for repairing fuel lines before you try. It is not that difficult but there are certain things you must do to ensure a long-lasting non leaking fit.

It is a vent tube. And I said fuel line hose, not " plain old rubber hose"
You're exactly right. You said what you said. And I said what I said. The two do not intersect. They weren't meant to.
Why would I bash your response?
You do nothing but contribute meaningful support on this site -- which I appreciate..
I was indeed referring to plain old rubber hose.
Most people who don't work with fuel systems don't know not to do it. I did not say do not use rubber fuel line.
