2004 Saturn Ion 3 setting 10 mo. Won’t start

Purchased a 04 Saturn Ion 3 sedan that has not been started in 10 months. It is a very well taken care of car, one owner with all records from 04 until. 2019.. No major fixes, no major problems.. any Ideas where to start? I have read several threads on other site about start issues, which I need info on what to do first.. Jumpstarts will not engage nothing but the gauges and lights.. Just a click is all I get

You check for codes?

Bendix in starter may be hung up and not engaging flywheel properly.

Bang semi gently on the starter near the solenoid with a hammer or put a pipe against it if you cannot reach it and hit the pipe. Do not try to beat the crap out of it there is no need. If the car starts after that, then you may be able to get the starter to function properly from repeated use.

If that is in fact the issue.

If it is the issue, if you are impatient, then throw a new starter in it period but only after you have confirmed that is actually the issue. Shotgunning parts is expensive.

Was the vehicle running properly right before it was parked 10 months ago?

Make sure you have clean battery cable connections on both the positive and negative posts. I was gonna suggest the battery but haven't been on the forum for a few days. Today is the first time I've seen this post. Enjoy your Saturn.
