The issue is not with power, or communication... Literally the pins are stretched out to where I have to wiggle the UG in the port to get a connection... When I find a sweet spot, it will sometimes keep connection for days, but when it loses connection, I'm back to wiggling and the UG screen blinking on and off...

write down the pin to wire colors Get an 03 ion or later and cut the obdII connector off of it.
SOLDER and SHRINKWRAP the replacement connections.

If you want it to look prettier, keep as much wire length as you can when you cut the replacement connector out. This will allow you to solder and shrinkwrap under the dash for a cleaner look than 6 in from the connector

So, it's safe to cut and splice the wire? I was afraid of some type of fiber optic crap that I can't splice for my very soul...

I wonder who has an extra diagnostic port with pigtail?lol

I know what ya mean, I just thought that the wires were some sort of fiber-optic crap that couldn't be cut and re-joined back together... Guess I was over-thinking it...

Well, it IS a communication link with the ECU and a scanner tool, I was simply over-thinking the issue...

goalie, can you confirm a pin-out of one of your diagnostic ports? I'll check mine... If they're the same, I want to buy one from you...
