well then,

I just spent an hour teaching myself about the IRL supercharger setup.
So I know now why bones is fingering the boost solenoid.
Did you per chance check the fuse?

Had to ask.

Unhappy electrical thangs can spike currents.....

I hadn't thought to check the fuse... I didn't know the solenoid was on a fuse...

there is indeed---found these pix on IRL forum--which helped me to understand how the whole supercharger setup works on an Ion RL....

They are GM diagrams. No clue where the fuse is

Looks like I'm fuse hunting... It seems now as if you know more about my car than I do...

You win, but I don't know what your prize is...

Okay, so I checked my boost solenoid fuse... And it's still good, so I do in fact have a dying/dead solenoid...

...and I'm starting to have other issues with the car... Something in the brakes, I think... Feels like a caliper dragging, and occasionally I get a pretty bad shake in the wheel... Gonna have to look at it on my day off... I am suspecting the passenger front, because when I noticed the shake, I stopped to check out the car, and felt MASSIVE heat coming out of the wheel...

it's got 162k on those calipers. But a little grease or a replacement guide pin might do the trick. Probably neglected all four corners. One way to find out.

Don't buy cheap calipers from AutoHoze.

Of course I'll not buy the "cheap" calipers, if I can afford to avoid them... If my friggin truck would sell, then I would have the cash to tackle most of any impending issues with this car... Literally several genuinely interested buyers instantly turned around, finding out that it wasn't four wheel drive... People either offer me $800-1000, or want me to take installments of like $50... I can't afford to take payments, and two sets of tires/wheels and a camper shell, not to mention several recent, expensive services do not add up to a $800 truck...

But, I digress- if I had my $2k asking price, I would like to do
-Winter tires/summer wheels(more explanation upon request)
-Properly address the brakes/ the car pulling to the side(I've already had it aligned, the rear is still out though)
-phenolic intake spacer/IM gasket
-new boost control solenoid
-possibly snout rebuild on the blower
- FE5 control arms(one of my ball joints is showing signs of age, not worn out, but in the last stages of usefulness)...

Yes, that's a long list, and the $2k might not fully cover it, but it could supplement with a couple days of OT, timed on my big check...
