Default 06 Saturn Ion Automatic transmission fluid drain/fill?

Just joined, glad to be a member!

So I have a 2006 Saturn Ion, and been wanting to change out transmission fluid (drain/fill) but not able to find any videos on the procedure? Any help is greatly appreciated

Reason for wanting too, want to try and extend the longevity of the trans. Shifts fine until I push full throttle then proceeds to red line until I slightly let off. (And really at all speeds from 20-50mph it stays just above 2k-rpms. Normal?)

Has a few more issues (9 lovely CEL codes), but dealing with one at a time lol

Please post all of the codes.

Some may be dependent on others, and some may be ghost codes due to the presence of other codes.

If you want to extend the longevity of your vehicle, I suggest away from the red line.

I figured out the codes after few hours, was about to do the fuel filter, noticed when the previous owner cut the muffler off, they hit the sensors wires to the ECM . So I spliced/crimped and put them all back together. Now only CEL’s for o2 sensors.

but question still remains on the trans fluid drain and fill

YouTube has a couple of videos on changing transmission fluid for Ions with the Aisin 5-speed automatic. Search on "saturn ion transmission fluid change". You didn't specify, so I assumed you meant for an automatic transmission, and also assumed you don't have the CVT transmission.

2006 Saturn Ion 2, 2.2L 4 cylinder, 4-speed automatic. I seen a few videos but looks nothing like my transmission and doesn’t say how much for the ones I found

I believe the only 4 speed automatic available with the ion was the GM 4T45-E. From 2005 to 2007. So says Wikipedia.

This is for a Chevy Cobalt, but it has the same engine and transmission as yours.
