Default How often to change the transmission fluid filter?

2007 Saturn Ion-2 2.2

I did a drain and fill not even a year ago along with the filter and ended up having to drain again due to putting a whole in my transmission casing. After I repaired it, I added what was drained back in. I hadn't done it at the suggested interval from the Haynes manual, so I was planning on another drain and fill after a couple of oil changes. Should the transmission fluid filter be changed again?

Thank

Always take the opportunity to have clean fluid going though clean filters. If you were off maintenance schedule, since you can't do a complete system drain, you probably still have some skanky transmission fluid in there. All the more reason to start with a clean filter to catch more of that stuff. Especially when the cost involved is minimal.

I agree with derf, 100%. There's no point in running fresh fluid through an old filter.

Thanks
