Default Oil light

I recently put a new engine in my Saturn Aura. The oil light now comes on and I constantly check the oil level and it is ok. The engine is running beautifully and the light comes on and then goes off on it's own. What could be the problem?

The oil light is an oil pressure indicator not an oil level indicator. Have someone screw a manual oil pressure gage into your engine to check pressure. It is possible that the sensor is bad, that would be the best case scenario. The other scenario is that your new engine is having oil pressure problems. That will require further investigation.

I've done that and the pressure is good. It looks like a faulty sensor.

rockauto.com or amazon. Amazon is starting to undercut our beloved rockauto on many items (at least gm items). Combine w 2 day free shipping w Amazon prime and ...well.....

Sometimes the shipping from Rockauto is MORE than the part. Gotta weigh the pros against the cons.
